In Acts 15 we read of a significant challenge within the early church concerning the issue of circumcision and its necessity to being “saved.” Such teaching was generally contrary to God’s plan and would have resulted in the exclusion of Gentiles specifically. The apostles directly addressed the situation using strong believers to support their own instructions to the church while emphasizing the importance of “not making it difficult for Gentiles to turn to God.”
As with the early church it is critically important for Christians today to understand that inclusion is a central principle in our faith and that living this ideal takes effort over time. But inclusion intertwined with a Love First stance can lead to results that may seem hard to fathom. Listen to Minister Don McLaughlin discuss “inclusion” with his son Jerome McLaughlin to hear of just such an effort and its beautiful, Christ-like result.
